Tejas Spa at Adiwana Resort Jembawan has been inspired by the holistic teachings of Ayurveda, which is the world’s oldest healing system originating in India. This timeless concept is evident in the spa’s therapeutic menu where great emphasis is placed on balancing all areas of life and helping the body call upon its own energy to heal. The treatments are personalized by identifying an individual’s Dosha which denotes one’s constituon , whether it is Vatta, Pitta or Kapha or a combination of these, the system of Ayurvedic massage focuses on “opening “ the knotted nerves or blockages in one’s body in order to refresh, enliven, and energize the body,using a selection of specially prepared ayurvedic masage oil. The massage is performed by two therapist’s with medicated herbal oil in asynchrinized manner. Ayurvedic treatment’s improve blood circulation, complexion and texture of the skin, while relaxing and toning up muscles and nerve.

Forehead Flow with Medicated Oil

Dhara means flow and this treatment involves a continuous stream of warm herbal oil poured from an earthen vessel onto your forehead. The oil can also be replaced with medicated butter milk or herbal infused milk. Chest Massage with Medicated Oil

Urovasti is administered to the auras of the chest to treat pain in the sternum area. A reservoir is built up on the chest with black gram paste for medicinal oil to be poured in and retained there for the duration of 30minutes. This is followed by gentle massage to relax your entire body. It is performed to strengthen the heart as well as provide relief from feelings of sadness, anger and deep anxiety. 

Medicated Oil Treatment for Back Pain

The waist area of the body is called kati. A rectangular, leak-proof reservoir made of black gram dough is built up on your lower back, around the lumbo-sacral area. Luke warm medicated oil is then gently poured in the oil and the receptacle are kept in place for about 30 minutes and after removal, the affected area is gently massaged. It is beneficial for all spinal ailments, back pain and muscular discomfort. This Ayurvedic treatment can also be performed on the neck and knee joints.

Reflexology is an ancient Indian natural healing therapy that uses the hands only. Pressure placed on specific reflex points of the feet sends signals to the corresponding organs and glands acting as a wakeup call. It involves a paste made from fresh herbs and spices, which is applied to the body to increase blood circulation and ease muscle pain. A Tejas foot ritual begins this indulgence and continues with a tension-relieving Balinese massage. The highlight is the boreh paste created from natural ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, clove, cinnamon, coriander, pepper and nutmeg. A soak in a revitalizing herbal bath brings the treatment to an end

Udwartana means to energize and elevate the whole body. A specially blended medicated powder is deeply massaged into your body using specific palm and fnger movements. This treatment is performed to complement a weight loss regime as it tones muscles, stimulates blood circulation and reduces cellulite. Njavara is a special kind of rice widely used in Ayurveda treatments. It is cooked in milk and a concoction of medicinal herbs that gets tied up in a linen bundle and massaged all over your body. This treatment strengthens and tones skin, tissue and muscles. It also helps alleviate symptoms associated with joint pain, rheumatism and osteoarthritis.

PatraswedaElakizhi (Herbal Medicated Oil)
Patra and ela mean leaf, while kizhi means linen bundle. Therefore, patraswedaelakizhi is a kind of sudation therapy using a mixture of herbal leaves, grated coconut, mustard and rock salt. The proportions of these ingredients vary according to different ailments. The leaves are fried with several other herbal ingredients, tied in a linen pouchand then dipped in warm  medicated oil ready to be skilfully massaged over your whole body. This is a highly effective treatment for muscular pains, sprains, cramps and swelling of the joints. It also provides relief for more serious health problems such as aslipped disc, backache, spondylitis, sciatica, rheumatism and arthritis.

Thai massage is a form of assisted yoga in that it flexes the body, oxygenates the blood and quietens the mind.
